Local Team Prepares for Tour of Pennsylania, June 24-29 International Cycling Race Follows Historic Forbes Trail PITTSBURGH (June 18, 2008)--The Pennsylvania Lightning is one of 19 professional cycling teams from around the world making last-minute preparations for next week's Tour of Pennsylvania, a 450-mile Tour de France-style staged race from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh along the historic Forbes Trail. The cyclists will ride in the footsteps of British General John Forbes and a young Virginia Colonel named George Washington; the race course is designed to parallel the grueling route the 1758 Forbes Expedition, 250 years ago. Holding a copy of Pennsylvania's Forbes Trail, the beautifully illustated new guide to history and travel along the trail, are PA Lightning team members (l to r) Chris Ruhl of Quakerstown, PA; Jeff Salvitti of West Chester, PA; Michael Chauner of West Chester, PA; Taylor Brown of Fleetwood, PA; and Eric Chrabot of Virginia Beach, VA.
