HISTORICAL SITE DETAILS

Providence Plantation

Evans City, Pennsylvania

The Providence Plantation replicates a typical Virginia style plantation from the post-Revolutionary War era. Visitors will catch a glimpse of what life was like for Euro-Americans, African-Americans and Native Americans living in the Upper Ohio Valley in the 18th and 19th centuries. The site's emphasis is on the people who made America, and visitors will meet different frontier people (of all races) and learn some of the history through biographical presentations. The plantation features many recreated late 18th century buildings, including the main house, an out-kitchen, a dairy, smokehouse, dovecote, and stable. Other building are under construction.
